In a significant move to support the government’s efforts to ensure that all citizens have access to health insurance, Britam Insurance Tanzania awarded free health insurance during the annual Bima Walk held in Dodoma.

The walk which brings together other key insurance industry players served as an opportunity to highlight the critical importance of insurance coverage among Tanzanians.The event, organized as part of efforts to boost public understanding of insurance, saw a large turnout of participants from the region.

As part of the initiative, Britam awarded one lucky participant from a raffle draw with a free Afya Care health insurance cover to Samwel Joel. The winner was graced with a comprehensive health insurance package offering both Inpatient and Outpatient benefits. 

Afya Care insurance plan offers 12 custom made packages to choose from that provides different level of benefits. This generous prize aligns with the company’s commitment to providing affordable health insurance solutions to Tanzanians and complements the government’s ongoing efforts under the Universal Health Act.

The District Commissioner of Chamwino, Hon. Janeth Mayanja stated “Insurance education should continue to be provided to the public so they can use it for their benefit. Insurance plays a vital role in our country's economic stability and social welfare. By ensuring that more citizens are covered, we are not only protecting their health and financial well-being but also promoting a culture of responsibility and preparedness"

Dr. Baghayo Saqware, Commissioner of Insurance Tanzania said “Through this event, it will help citizens trust the insurance sector and utilize the various insurance services. Insurance aims to provide protection, and it is also an investment”
Both officials commended the insurance companies for their joint efforts to increase public awareness of the benefits of insurance, particularly health coverage, which remains a vital aspect of national development.

On Saturday 14th September 2024, Britam Insurance Tanzania sponsored the 27th Annual Tanzania Insurance Day event in Dodoma. The event aimed to further highlight the role of insurance in supporting Tanzania’s social and economic development.
