Korogwe District Commissioner William Mwakilema has urged town councilors to collaborate with experts to ensure effective collection and expansion of domestic revenue sources.

Speaking during a recent council meeting discussing the first quarter of the 2024/25 financial year, Mwakilema emphasized the need to create and develop new revenue streams.

"Collaboration between councilors and economic experts is crucial for expanding and enhancing revenue sources, which will boost our income," he stated.

Mwakilema noted that increased revenue would not only support the council's daily operations but also facilitate the completion of development projects.

Korogwe Town Council Deputy Chairman, Nassoro Mohamed, expressed appreciation for the DC's advice, pledging that councilors would work with economic experts to identify and monitor revenue sources effectively.

Executive Director Mwashabani Mrope reinforced the DC's message, highlighting the importance of joint efforts in revenue collection.

"DC Mwakilema, your timely advice aligns with our current initiatives, including the construction of Manundu Market to enhance revenue collection," Mrope said.

Korogwe Town Council's economy largely depends on agriculture, trade, and small-scale industries.

The region benefits from its strategic location along key road networks, supporting trade in agricultural products such as maize, cassava, and other cash crops.

Local markets and small businesses contribute significantly to the council's revenue base, while initiatives to enhance infrastructure and services aim to boost economic activities.
