YOUNG Africans have successfully navigated a critical period as the world’s soccer governing body (FIFA) has lifted its transfer ban, allowing the club to register new players once again.

The ban had been imposed due to two separate violations involving player registration and unpaid wages.

The Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF) confirmed the lifting of the ban in a statement released on Wednesday.

The first case that led to the ban involved an incomplete registration process for a former player, while the second stemmed from unpaid wages to ex-player Lazarous Kambole, who had terminated his contract due to non-payment.

The TFF explained that FIFA's decision came after Young Africans settled their issues with Kambole. The resolution came after the club failed to resolve the matter internally within the 45-day deadline set by the governing body.

Initially, Young Africans’ information officer, Ally Kamwe, had indicated that the club had finalized the settlement with Kambole, but the delay was due to awaiting FIFA’s confirmation that the payment had been successfully received by the Zambian player.

With the ban now lifted, Young Africans are poised to make significant moves in the transfer market during the current registration window.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the Jangwani-based side have already completed signings of several key players, including goalkeeper Khomeiny Aboubakar from Singida Black Stars, defender Chadrack Boka from FC Lupopo of the Democratic Republic of Congo, midfielder Clatous Chama from Simba SC, and striker Prince Dube from Azam FC.

Kamwe also announced that Young Africans will begin unveiling new signings and releasing players starting in July. This strategic move is expected to bolster the squad as they prepare for the upcoming season.

One notable development is the contract extension of Young Africans captain Bakar Mwamnyeto, who has signed a two-year deal to remain with the club.

Mwamnyeto, who joined Young Africans from Coastal Union, has been instrumental in the team’s recent successes, leading them to three consecutive Premier League titles since the 2021/2022 season.

The club is said to have rewarded his loyalty and performance with a substantial registration fee of Sh300 million.

Mwamnyeto’s future with Wananchi had been uncertain, with rumors circulating about a potential move to their rivals Simba. Additionally, there were reports of interest from clubs abroad. However, the management allowed Mwamnyeto the freedom to decide his future, ultimately leading to his decision to stay at Jangwani.

Under the leadership of head coach Miguel Gamondi, Young Africans have seen remarkable success, including winning the Premier League for the three time in a row, finishing in quarter-final of the CAF Champions League and winning the Federation Cup last season, and the club’s strategy of retaining key players while adding new talent has been crucial to maintaining their dominance in Tanzanian football.

Looking ahead, Young Africans have ambitious plans for the pre-season. The team is set to tour South Africa, where they will face Kaizer Chiefs in a friendly match in July. Following this, the side will head to Kenya for the grand opening of a new stadium, marking a significant milestone in the club’s preparations for the upcoming season.

The lifting of the transfer ban marks a new chapter for Young Africans, providing an opportunity to further strengthen their squad and continue their pursuit of domestic and continental glory.

With a blend of experienced players and new signings, Young Africans are well-positioned to build on their recent achievements and solidify their status as a football powerhouse in the region.

As the transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on Young Africans to see how they navigate this critical period and what impact their new signings will have on the team’s performance in the forthcoming season.

The club’s supporters remain optimistic, eagerly anticipating the unveiling of new players and the continuation of Young Africans’ legacy of excellence on the field.
