SIMBA SC head coach Fadlu Davids has disclosed the club's intention to adopt a cautious and strategic approach in the December-January transfer market, emphasizing quality over quantity.

The South African tactician (pictured) confirmed the arrival of Congolese attacking midfielder Elie Mpanzu as the club’s only secured signing for the upcoming window.

Davids stressed that Simba will remain patient in assessing the market for players who can bring immediate impact to the team.

“Mpanzu is already one change that is coming. It is not very easy to find players on the market who can immediately affect the squad,” Davids remarked.

Acknowledging the challenges new players often face in adapting to the environment and expectations of a big club like Simba, Davids reiterated his belief in giving the current squad time to grow.

“Some players take longer than others to adapt. New coach, new players, different environment in a big club - they need a bit more time.

“We still have not seen the best of most of these players, and we want to give them time to grow and reach their best level,” he explained.

Davids emphasized that the club's recruitment strategy will focus on finding players who meet both immediate performance needs and financial feasibility.

“I don’t think there is any area that needs a complete overhaul. It’s about finding players like Mpanzu, who can come in and immediately challenge for a starting spot. That is the level we are looking for - not just players to add numbers,” Davids said.

He added: “At this moment, we need players who, if available, can improve the team right away. If nothing suitable comes up, we will stick with the same squad.”

The Tanzanian Premier League’s mid-season transfer window officially opens on Sunday, December 15, 2024, and will close on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 11:59 PM.

During this period, clubs can make player purchases, sales, and loan deals within Tanzania and internationally.

However, Simba's measured approach suggests they are committed to making only purposeful signings that align with their objectives for the second half of the season.

The arrival of Mpanzu is expected to enhance Simba’s attacking options, but the club remains cautious about unnecessary changes, focusing instead on building consistency and confidence within the existing squad.
