SINGIDA Black Stars continued their impressive form in the Premier League with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over KMC FC at CCM Liti Stadium last week.

This win marks their third consecutive triumph in the league, propelling them to the top of the table with a perfect nine points from three matches.

The match saw Josephat Bada open the scoring for Singida Black Stars in the 40th minute, followed by a second-half goal from Elvis Rupia. KMC FC managed to pull one back, but it wasn’t enough to stop Singida Black Stars from securing the three points.

The victory places them above second-placed Simba SC, who have six points from two matches.

Head coach Patrick Aussems was pleased with his team’s performance but emphasized the need for further improvement.

“Since the start of the pre-season, we have worked a lot, and today we see the results of our efforts,” Aussems said after the match. “We faced a quality team, and the match was quite open. However, I’m disappointed with the last 20-25 minutes after scoring the second goal. We relaxed too much, choosing to defend rather than pushing for a third goal.”

Aussems stressed the importance of consistency throughout the match.

“We need to be more solid and efficient. We conceded a goal, so we must work on our defense. We also had several opportunities to score more and need to be better in both attack and defense,” he continued.

Singida Black Stars have started the 2024/25 Premier League season in excellent form. In their opening match, they secured a 3-1 victory against Ken Gold at Sokoine Mbeya Stadium, followed by a 1-0 win at Kaitaba Stadium against Kagera Sugar, before their latest triumph against KMC FC.

The team has now scored six goals and conceded just two in their three matches, showcasing a balanced approach on both ends of the pitch.

One of the standout players in the victory over KMC FC was midfielder Emanuel Keyekeh, who earned praise as the Man of the Match.

Singida Black Stars now face a challenging series of away matches, starting with Pamba Jiji FC, followed by fixtures against JKT Tanzania and Mashujaa FC. With their current momentum, they will be eager to continue their winning run and cement their position at the top of the table.

On the other hand, KMC FC’s slow start to the season persisted with this loss. After earning just one point from their opening draw against Coastal Union, they now find themselves with only one point after two matches.

KMC FC head coach Abdihamid Moalin acknowledged his team’s poor performance in the first half but highlighted their improvement after halftime.

“The first half was very poor, but we improved significantly in the second half. We’ll need to review the game to address the mistakes made in the first half,” Moalin said. “It’s still early in the season. We have three more games in the next nine days, so we’ll head back to Dar es Salaam and prepare for the next challenge."

KMC FC will look to bounce back in their upcoming matches against Ken Gold FC, Azam FC, and JKT Tanzania. With only one point on the board, Moalin’s side will need to quickly rectify their early-season issues if they are to climb the table.

As the season progresses, Singida Black Stars will aim to maintain their unbeaten streak. Their upcoming matches against Pamba Jiji FC, JKT Tanzania, and Mashujaa FC present them with an opportunity to continue their push for the Premier League title.

For KMC FC, the focus will be on improving their form and addressing the mistakes that have plagued their start to the season. The battle for supremacy in the Premier League is heating up, and both teams will be eager to prove their mettle in the coming weeks.
