AUTHORITIES in Musoma District, Mara Region have identified seven key areas for investment to stimulate job creation and drive economic growth.
The focus includes fish farming using cages, which will be linked to the establishment of fish processing factories. There is also an emphasis on irrigation agriculture, with plans to set up processing industries for agricultural products.
Musoma District Commissioner, Juma Chikoka made the remarks on Sunday in Musoma during a special workshop training, where various opportunities were discussed.
DC Chikoka also mentioned the potential for investments in gold mining, natural gas extraction, livestock farming and the establishment of a modern dairy processing factory.
He highlighted that the opportunities would help increase employment, particularly for young people, and improve the standard of living in the district.
Education, both in terms of quality schooling and vocational training, has also been identified as a key area for improvement.
Additionally, the district aims to develop a new garment factory and boost tourism, particularly in the islands of Lake Victoria.
Chikoka urged local residents to actively engage in the opportunities for economic transformation.
Musoma District legislator, Sospeter Muhongo, further emphasised the importance of capitalising on the potential of fish farming and irrigation projects.
He encouraged the community to embrace modern fish farming techniques and the associated benefits, such as sustainable production and processing.
The district leadership believes that the investment opportunities will not only boost the economy but also contribute to a better quality of life for the people.
