DEPUTY Secretary General CCM-Zanzibar Dr Mohamed Said Dimwa has urged party leaders from village to regional level to identify and document challenges facing people and present them to upper levels for action.

Dr Dimwa made the statement here yesterday when addressing CCM members at Mwanyanya branch in Unguja as part of his tour to strengthen the party in the isles.

He said one of the major priorities of the party is to listen to people’s challenges and seek for permanent solutions while improving livelihoods.

“The party believes that members and voters are in the cells and branches and our aim is to ensure that leaders act by serving the people efficiently as they are the ones who trusted and gave us the opportunity to lead the country,” he said.

He said that the government has done a lot in bolstering development of the country with major investments made in education, health, water, roads and economic empowerment both in urban and rural areas.

“Given how the government is devoted to bringing development transformation, it is important for party leaders to back it by listening to people’s challenges and presenting them to upper levels for implementation,” he said.

He also wanted the leaders to continue to encourage more people to join CCM in order to expand the base of members.

When at Bububu ward in Urban West District, Dr Dimwa wanted party members to work hard and in synergy to achieve intended goals.

He commended all constituency leaders including members of the House of Representatives and councillors for the good job which they do to implement the election manifesto of 2020.

The party leader further urged citizens to register in the voters’ permanent registry for them to exercise their right to vote and be voted for.

In the tour, the leader is accompanied by heads of the party’s departments and deputy permanent secretaries of all wings.

Dimwa kicked up the storm at the weekend when he announced that the party supported the extending presidential term limit from the current five to seven. President Hussein Mwinyi was later quoted terming the ideas “unproductive and awkward.”
