LAKE Gas Company in collaboration with the Rural Energy Agency (REA), have signed (MoU) to provide education in villages about the importance of using clean gas energy for cooking instead of using wood.
The Administrative Director of Lake Group Companies, Juma Nuru, said this yesterday in Dar es Salaam during the Buhaya Festival held at the weekend.
He said that they have agreed to go to various rural areas to educate the people to stop cutting down trees because if the situation continues like this, the country will likely remain a desert and lack sufficient rain.
He said through an agreement with REA that Lake Gas will provide 140,000 cylinders distributed to various rural areas.
"We have decided to support the efforts of President Samia Suluhu Hassan so that the people can get low-priced gas and stop using dirty wood fuel, so we will distribute gas to all areas in the country," he said.
He said that at the moment they have been able to have representatives all over the country as a strategy to ensure that the people get the service of clean gas energy and completely avoid the use of wood and charcoal.
He said they have decided to sponsor the Buhaya Festival as part of Corporate Social Responsibility to the community and supporting efforts to develop the traditions and cultures of various tribes in the country.
Recently, the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, said the Region expects to distribute 10,000 cylinders of gas provided by Lake Gas to women as a strategy to eliminate the use of charcoal and wood.
He instructed government institutions in the region to donate 300 gas cylinders that will be distributed to women as a program to encourage the use of clean energy for cooking.
He said that he has instructed the institutions to provide gas cylinders because the implementation strategy of the plan for the use of clean energy for cooking must be linked to various government institutions.
He said the slogan used in the campaign for the use of clean energy is to be careful, cook cleverly, use clean energy, save the environment economically.
He said the aim of the strategy is to enable women in the country to shift from the use of charcoal and wood for cooking as this energy has shown many health effects.
"We must recognize and appreciate our clean energy stakeholders who have been sacrificing their resources and resources to ensure this strategy is successful, including the people of Lake Gas who have always helped us whenever we have had a problem," he said.
