Newly promoted NBC Premier League club Ken Gold FC.

AFTER securing promotion for next season's NBC Premier League football, Ken Gold FC has begun the search for a new head coach.

The Mbeya club’s current head coach Jumanne Challe will not be eligible to lead the team per Tanzania Premier League Board regulations.

Per premier regulations, each of the NBC Premier League teams' head coaches should possess a CAF License A to operate in his respective squad.

Jumanne holds a CAF License B which made him eligible for leading a Championship League team.

According to Ken Gold FC, the squad needs a coach with a title-winning background to boost the technical bench.

The Mbeya-based team secured the 2023/24 Championship League silverware with 70 points, three points ahead of second-placed Pamba FC which also attained direct promotion to the top flight.

The gold miners have received more than three curriculum vitae from tacticians in Tanzania, France, and DR Congo.

The Chief Executive Officer at Ken Gold FC Kenneth Mwambungu noted the squad would not look for big names, and would instead concentrate on the tactician's history in terms of winning titles.

Mwambungu said they will look for a coach who will develop players and work collectively with the leadership.

"We have learned from teams that worked hard to secure promotion to the Premier League and then return to the Championship League, we have analyzed the reasons," Mwambungu revealed.

"Football teams have the same problems, just different environments, we won't rush to pick a new coach due to his national heritage,” the official said.

“We aim to look at the tactician's winning records and even title background, we aim to stay for a long time in the top-flight football, we need strategy, plans, and time," Mwambungu pointed out.

With Ken Gold FC and Pamba FC already in the Premier League books for next season, Biashara United will face off against Mbeya Kwanza FC for one spot in the promotion/relegation playoffs fixtures.

The winner of the match will play against the loser of the promotion/relegation playoff involving NBC Premier League clubs that will finish 13th and 14th.

Premier League teams that finish 15th and 16th will automatically be relegated to the Championship League.
