SEVEN pupils are feared dead after a school bus they were travelling in plunged into a ravine with running waters caused by a heavy downpour which hit Arusha Region for more than five hours beginning last night.
The pupils from Ghati Memorial School are said to have boarded the minibus with registration number T 496 EFK which plunged into a ravine at Dampo area after its driver failed to control and fell into the gully which pours its water into the Themi River.
Arusha and other Regions in the country have been overwhelmed by floods as incessant rainfall persist across Tanzania.
A number of homes and shops have been inundated while bridges have been obstructed.
In some areas, vehicles have been swept away or severely damaged by the surging floodwaters.
