Samia leads transformative governance with strategic appointments

IN a strategic effort to improve governance and efficiency within the administration, President Samia Suluhu Hassan has orchestrated new appointments.

This was disclosed in a statement issued today October 30, 2024 by Chief Secretary Amb. Dr. Moses Kusiluka, revealing President Samia’s appointment of Dr Leonard Akwilapo as the Chairperson of the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU). 

Dr.Akwilapo, is an ex Secretary General and takes over from Prof. Penina Mlama, whose term has ended.

The statement further indicated that the Head of State has also appointed Prof. Zacharia Mganiwa as the Chairperson of the Management Council of the Adult Education Institute, a role she takes after serving as a Senior Lecturer at the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and takes over from Dr. Naomi Katunzi, who has completed her term.

Furthermore, President Samia has appointed Dr. Mwamini Tulli, as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Arusha Institute of Accountancy (LAA) for a second term.

Engineer Dr. Richard Masika has also been appointed as the Chairperson of the National Irrigation Commission. Engineer Dr. Masika takes over from Prof. Henry Mahoo, whose term has ended.

Ambassador Salome Sijaona has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Council of Ardhi University (ARU). Ambassador Sijaona has been appointed for a second term.

Additionally, Prof. Joseph Otieno has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Alternative Medicine Council. Prof. Otieno is a Senior Lecturer at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), taking over from Prof. Hamisi Malebo, whose term has ended.
