THE Registration, Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA) has called on all marriage celebrants in the country to register on its digital system called eRITA to be recognised by the government.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam yesterday, RITA Chief Executive Officer Frank Kanyusi said that registration exercise which started in January this year is expected to end on Monday whereby 3,635 celebrants had already registered.
“The eRITA system helps to increase efficiency and eases getting new licences electronically,” he said.
According to him, the exercise involves marriage celebrants from all religions and denominations, adding that it is easy unlike in the past when the process was done manually.
“It is my optimism that the exercise will be accomplished as earlier planned,” he said.
He said registering via eRITA system is compulsory for both marriage celebrants who were registered manually and still have their valid licences and those whose licences have expired and need to renew them.
Kanyusi said going forward, all marriage celebrants will be required to use eRITA and get licences from authorities for them to exercise powers bestowed upon them to officiate marriage.
Kanyusi said RITA has continued to improve its services electronically to enable Tanzanians access them easily and affordably.
