PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has reshuffled the cabinet without appointing new ministers.
Chief Secretary Dr Moses Kusiluka said in a statement yesterday that the president had decided to shift responsibilities for the media sector from the Ministry of Information, Communication and Information Technology to the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports.
Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi is the new minister in the revamped ministry, aftrer having served as Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs. He swaps positions with Dr. Damas Ndumbaro, who returns to the ministry he previously led.
Similarly, the president appointed Jerry Silaa to take over at Communication and Information Technology as minister, while Hamad Yusuf Masauni, erstwhile Minister for Home Affairs, takes over the Union and Environment docket in the Vice President’s Office (VPO), the statement indicated.
Dr. Ashatu Kijaji replaces Abdallah Ulega at Livestock and Fisheries, while Ulega moves to Worksm replacing Innocent Bashungwa who moves to Home Affairs, replacing asauni, it elaborated.
Gerson Msigwa becomes Information, Sports and Culture permanent secretary as well as returning to his earlier position as chief government spokesman, while Dr James Kilabuko becomes deputy permanent secretary for Policy, Parliament and Coordination n the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Dr. Stephen Nindi will serve as Cooperatives and Irrigation deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture; Dr. Suleiman Serera shifts to the Ministry of Trade and Industry as deputy permanent secretary, paving the way for the incumbent, Dr. Stephen Simbachawene, to be assigned new duties.
Prof. Mohammed Janabi has been appointed as presidential advisor on health and medication, while remaining the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) executive director.
Anderson Mutatembwa, Mobhare Matinyi, ACP Suzan Kaganda, and outgoing government spokesman Thobias Makoba were appointed ambassadors and will be assigned their duty stations shortly.
The newly appointed top officials will be sworn in at at unguu State Lodg in Zanzibar tomorrow, it added.
