MINISTER for Industry and Trade, Dr Selemani Jafo has promised to convene a regular meeting with traders and investors to listen to their challenges and hence find durable solutions.

He made the remarks over the weekend when speaking to officials from some institutions under his Ministry and that of Zanzibar's Ministry of Trade and Industrial Development.

The meeting was meant to discuss how to implement various directives issued by President Samia Suluhu Hassan when swearing in newly appointed top government officials at the Tunguu State House in Zanzibar.

In addition, Dr Jafo called on the Ministry and the private sector both in mainland and Zanzibar to cooperate with the Ministry to promote the development of trade and industries.

He promised to continue addressing the various challenges faced by businessmen, industrialists, and the private sector in general to promote mass production of products and increase revenue collection.

He said the private sector has employed many people in the country and thus if given a conducive environment, it will continue to flourish and increase the number of jobs for Tanzanians, improve national income, and build a strong and competitive industrial economy.

Dr Jafo also said that he and his experts will continue to meet with various businessmen through business councils in all regions of the country to listen to their challenges and plan how to solve them to ensure that the industrial and business sector grows rapidly.

He instructed employees in the Ministry to fulfil their duties professionally and efficiently to ensure that the Ministry reaches the government’s expectations in promoting the industrial and commercial sectors.

Dr Hashil Abdallah, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Zanzibar’s Permanent Secretary in the Zanzibar's Ministry of Trade and Industrial Development, Fatma Mabrouk Khamis promised to work in synergy providing close cooperation to the Minister to achieve the intended goals.
