HEALTH Minister Jenister Mhagama has visited Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam to assess its readiness in providing healthcare services during the African Energy Summit.
The summit, which will gather 25 African Heads of State, Prime Ministers, deputy prime ministers and 60 energy ministers from across Africa as well as key stakeholders, is set to take place over the next two days.
During her visit today January 26, Minister Mhagama, accompanied by her permanent secretary and other officials, commended the hospital for its preparedness.
She emphasized the importance of ensuring the health and safety of the international delegates attending the summit.
“The country is expecting a large number of international guests from institutions involved in energy matters. Our role as the Ministry of Health is to ensure that healthcare facilities are equipped and ready to provide medical care in case of any emergencies,” Mhagama said.
She expressed satisfaction with Aga Khan Hospital’s facilities, highlighting the presence of all necessary resources, including an intensive care unit and other critical services.
“We have thoroughly inspected the hospital, and everything is in place. The hospital is fully prepared to handle any situation," she said.
She also emphasized the summit’s potential to boost Tanzania’s medical tourism, showcasing the country’s capacity to deliver world-class healthcare services.
Dr Harrison Chuwa, Medical Director at Aga Khan Health Services Tanzania, thanked the government for selecting their hospital as one of the facilities to support the summit.
“We have walked the minister and her team through all our key departments, and they are fully satisfied with our preparations,”Dr Chuwa said.
The government’s focus on ensuring the safety and health of summit participants, alongside showcasing Tanzania’s healthcare sector, underscores the country’s commitment to global standards in both energy and health services.
