Explore untapped chances in SGR, CCM urges business community

AMOS Makala, CCM secretary of ideology, publicity and training, has urged traders in the country to seize untapped economic opportunities once official operations begin on the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).

Makala said that over the weekend after travelling by a new electric-powered train from Morogoro station to Tanzanite station in Dar es Salaam.

He highlighted numerous opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, livestock, and transport that remain underutilized.

He said the Dar es Salaam -Morogoro- Dodoma services will help to connect people traveling using electric trains as well as stimulate business economic activities to and from the country capital city of Dodoma.

Makala stated that the Dar es Salaam-Morogoro-Dodoma railway services, , will not only facilitate convenient travel for passengers using electric trains but also stimulate economic activities, particularly to and from the capital city of Dodoma.

He underscored that the SGR will significantly reduce both transportation costs and travel time for passengers and cargo across various destinations.

The official commended the Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) for its high standards and well-organized services in the new electric-powered train.

 “I further urge business groups to explore potential opportunities and invest,” Makalla added, emphasizing: “The government has made substantial investments in railway infrastructure to enhance the transport of goods and services.”

Some passengers, Sinira Mohamed and Gilbert Bambaga who travelled from Morogoro by the train, also praised the service, describing it as a benchmark for modern transport.

The passengers expressed anticipation for the commencement of Dar es Salaam-Dodoma services, which they believe will enable timely visits to their families.

 “The services aboard the train were exceptional and of high standard. We commend the railway management,” they affirmed.

The official launch of the Dar es Salaam-Dodoma services is scheduled for later this month, following the initiation of services from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro last month.
