Residents of indigenous communities in Arusha and Manyara regions, are running for the benefit of the Ereto Solidarity Fund, which will help them connect them with developmental systems that will help them get rid of the economy.

The beneficiaries of the fund are from the Maasai pastoral community, the fruit of the Hadzabe and the Grandma has been set up with the aim of avoiding the basics of financial aid dependency from donors.

This was stated yesterday by Anna Ndiko,The Ereto Fund Coordinator, while speaking to reporters towards the launch of the fund.

She said through the fund the communities would avoid the dependency and financial foundations that are organized and determined by systems that do not recognize how indigenous communities run lives and gain economic development.

However, she said despite the implementation of various development projects and financial aid but those communities have had short -term development and unsustainable changes.

The organizer, she said the fund has come as an alternative to solving the challenges in the development projects by ensuring communities become founders and designers of how projects can bring about sustainable change.

“This will be possible by involving members of those communities to develop funds and guidelines for funding and accountability that will prioritize them as the essence of projects at all tender levels.

"The fund is built in the notion that the members of the marginalized communities are well aware of their progress as it will allow them to be in a position to decide tomorrow they want as the world moves forward. She said the fund coordinator"
