Airtel Tanzania is pleased to announce the appointment of Charles Kamoto as the new Managing Director of Airtel Tanzania. This key leadership transition targets to reinforce growth and operational excellence in the Tanzanian market.
In a statement issued by the company's CEO, Sunil Taldar, the Airtel Africa Group CEO stated that the change in management strategically aligns with the Airtel Group’s outlook to enhance Airtel’s market position in the country and drive sustained growth as the leading telecommunication service provider in the country.
Charles will take on the new role following Dinesh Balsingh’s appointment as CEO and Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria, effective November 1, 2024.
Previously, Dinesh served as Managing Director for Airtel Tanzania, where he achieved notable Revenue Market Share (RMS) growth through strategic marketing, product innovation, and execution in a highly competitive market since taking office in February 2022.
Charles Kamoto, who has 24 years of telecommunications experience—including 17 years in senior executive roles—joined Airtel Malawi as Chief Commercial Officer and advanced to Managing Director in 2016. His leadership has been instrumental in achieving profitable growth, expanding Customer and Market Shares (CMS, RMS), and successfully launching Airtel Money Malawi as a leading financial inclusion brand. In 2020, Charles oversaw Airtel Malawi’s public listing in the Malawi Stock Exchange, further strengthening the company's regional presence.
