CCM vows to champion private sector participation in national development

THE rulling Party CCM has expressed commitment to continue promoting investment by the private sector to enable the country get away with imports on various products and boost foreign currency reserves.

The party's Secretary General Dr Emanuel Nchimbi made the remarks when opening Tanga Cable industry - a newly built plant to manufacture electric cables in Tanga Region.

"CCM understands that there will be no success in building a strong economy if the private sector does not take part, there is a challenge of imports on various products, it should reach a point where we should be self sufficient," he said.

He said the availability of local industries will help increase production instead of importing which will increase job creation and reduce rising costs of production.

Dr Nchimbi said it was important for Tanzanians with the capacity to invest to be facilitated so that they take part in national development and job creation.

CCM Chairman for Tanga region Rajab Abdulrahman the launching of the industry was a testimony of how President Samia Suluhu Hassan was implementing the party's manifesto at a fast speed.

Tanga Regional Commissioner Dr Batilda Buriani said the region was in plans to revive all the stalled industries  to restore the region's lost industrial glory.

Director for Tanga Cable Murtaza Dossaji said the industry said the new industry will help carter for the availability of electric cables in the northen part of the country.

He said the industry is owned by the Dossaji family which has been doing business in the country for more than 150 years.

"The industry is expected to employ more than 50 people and the aim is to promote the energy sector but also ensure reduced prices for electric products," he said.

He said the government led by President Samia has created a good environment for doing business a move which has allowed more investors to flow to the country.
