DEPUTY Prime Minister Dr Doto Biteko has reaffirmed the government's dedication to nationwide development, ensuring that all planned projects in local governments are executed and completed on schedule.

Addressing a rally held at Namonge Ward in Bukombe district, Geita Region, Dr Biteko, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for the area, stated that President Samia Suluhu Hassan is actively working to foster development across the country.

"You must collaborate with the government to ensure timely implementation of all development projects, while also ensuring your children attend school," he emphasized.

During his visit, Dr Biteko had to pause at the headquarters of Namonge Ward to hear from residents who had halted his convoy, seeking an audience with their MP concerning road infrastructure.

Holding banners with various messages, the residents requested the construction of a tarmac road within the district to facilitate the transportation of their produce from farms.

Addressing their concerns, Dr Biteko assured the residents that the government will continue with regular maintenance of infrastructure to ensure year-round accessibility, considering financial availability. He cited recent infrastructure improvements over the past few years as evidence of ongoing progress.

Geita Regional Commissioner Martin Shigella used the gathering to encourage residents to register in the permanent voters' book to participate in upcoming local government elections this year, and presidential, parliamentary, and local government elections in 2025.

"This year, we have local government elections, but next year we will also have elections for President, MPs, and councillors. From August 5th to 11th this year, we will need to register to choose the leaders we want when the time comes," he informed the attendees.

Residents of Ilyamchele Village, Namonge Ward, Bukombe District, commended the government for enhancing various social services in the ward. Speaking at the meeting, Namonge Ward Councillor Mlalu Bundala highlighted the significant efforts of the sixth-phase government in improving social services and elevating the status of Namonge Ward.

He mentioned notable improvements, including the allocation of over 1bn/- for preliminary bridge construction at two primary and secondary school locations, totalling 2.31bn/-.

Other infrastructure enhancements mentioned include the drilling of five water wells under the President's initiative to alleviate water challenges, alongside advancements in the electricity sector.

Bundala also noted the community's request for a health centre at Ilyamchele Village, highlighting their contributions and the need for improved service standards at the existing facility.
