ACT applauds Samia for major development projects in Pemba

THE Opposition ACT-Wazalendo has hailed President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her efforts to enable Zanzibar secure funding for implementation of a euros 457 million strategic project which involves construction of roads and a modern airport in Pemba.

Ismail Jussa Ladhu, ACT-Wazalendo Vice Chairman (Zanzibar) made the remarks yesterday when addressing a rally at Geji Bububu grounds in Urban West Region, Unguja.

He said the projects earlier failed due to some dishonest leaders who thwarted the efforts but President Samia’s government decided to guarantee the loan from the UK.

He said the strategic project aims to construct the Mkoani-Chakechake road, Pemba Airport, Tunguu-Makunduchi road as well as Fumba-Kisauni road with major objective of opening up Pemba.

Speaking on privatisation of port in Zanzibar, Ladhu said that since the port was handed over to investors from France, no improvement of services which have see with production costs continuing to hike thus affecting people.

ACT-Wazalendo National Chairman and Zanzibar First Vice President Othman Masoud Othman said that the party will act deal with all leaders who are accused of misuse of public funds if it takes over power in 2025.

ACT-Wazalendo has embarked on public rallies as part of its strategy to visit 50 constituencies in the isles door-to-door to identify and register members and keep their records.
