A total of 1,921 voters participated in the election, with 1,917 valid votes cast. Only 4 ballots were spoiled and 7 votes were rejected, with an overwhelming voter approval rate of 99.42 percent.
Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has presented Stephen Wasira's name for election as Vice Chairman for Mainland during its 2025 Special Congress, following the decision of Abdulrahman Kinana to step down from the position in late July 2024.
Wasira's nomination was first proposed and discussed at the Central Committee meeting before being presented to the National Executive Committee. It was subsequently announced at the Congress, where members will vote on the nomination.

She highlighted Kinana’s pivotal role in strengthening the party’s presence nationwide, especially through his strategic insights.
“Kinana’s leadership was instrumental in fostering unity within CCM and supporting key government initiatives, particularly in the areas of rural development and economic empowerment,” she said.
