President Samia steers CCM central committee talks ahead of special general meeting

CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) national chairperson, who doubles as Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan is currently presiding over a meeting of the Central Committee of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) in Dodoma.

The meeting, taking place today, January 18, 2025, serves as a precursor to the CCM Special General Meeting scheduled to be held on January 18 and 19 in the city.

The newly elected CCM Vice Chairman for Mainland, Stephen Wasira, has reaffirmed the core values of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party, emphasizing unity, peace, and development as key pillars of its mission.

In his remarks, Wasira underscored the importance of reconciliation, noting that it can only be achieved through mutual understanding and compromise.

CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) national chairperson, who doubles as Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan,has officially declared Stephen Wasira as the new Vice Chairman of Mainland CCM.

A total of 1,921 voters participated in the election, with 1,917 valid votes cast. Only 4 ballots were spoiled and 7 votes were rejected, with an overwhelming voter approval rate of 99.42 percent.

Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has presented Stephen Wasira's name for election as Vice Chairman for Mainland during its 2025 Special Congress, following the decision of Abdulrahman Kinana to step down from the position in late July 2024.

Wasira's nomination was first proposed and discussed at the Central Committee meeting before being presented to the National Executive Committee. It was subsequently announced at the Congress, where members will vote on the nomination.

CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) national chairperson, who doubles as Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan  has expressed deep gratitude for the service and dedication of Abdulrahman Kinana, the former Vice Chairperson of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).

The Head of State made the remarks today, January 18, 2025, during the ongoing CCM Special General Meeting, scheduled to be held on today and tomorrow in Dodoma, the capital City.

She highlighted Kinana’s pivotal role in strengthening the party’s presence nationwide, especially through his strategic insights.

“Kinana’s leadership was instrumental in fostering unity within CCM and supporting key government initiatives, particularly in the areas of rural development and economic empowerment,” she said.
