NBC Bank has been named Tanzania's Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility in the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2024.

NBC Managing director Theobald Sabi holds the Tanzania's Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility 2024 issued by Euromoney in London recently. This recognition highlights the bank's commitment to the economic and social empowerment of the communities it serves. 

NBC Bank Managing Director Theobald Sabi stated, "This accolade reflects our sterwardship role as a solution provider and catalyst for community empowerment and economic growth. Driven by our motto, 'conveniently everywhere', we offer a blend of traditional and digital financial solutions to meet our customers' needs and enhance their economic and social well-being."

Sabi emphasized the bank's impact on education, health, youth enterprise, and environmental conservation. 

"Our purpose of empowering our communities' tomorrow underscores our commitment to financial and social empowerment for sustainable development,” he said.

“Being named Tanzania’s Best Bank for Corporate Social Responsibility is a testament to our progress and motivates us to continue building a better Tanzania. Our first Sustainability Report for 2023 highlights our Environmental, Social, and Governance impact and our commitment to sustainable actions."

NBC Bank was honored for its ethical business conduct, innovative community outreach, financial inclusion efforts, and environmental initiatives. 

Banking products like NBC Shambani, Kuanasi, Akaunti ya Wafugaji, and Johari have promoted financial inclusion, while programs like NBC Business Clubs, the NBC Dodoma Marathon, NBC Mobile Clinic, Wajibika Scholarships, and youth internships have had significant social impact.

Over 45,000 women screened for cervical cancer in collaborations with the Ocean Road Cancer Institute, 100 midwifery scholarships awarded in collaborations with the Benjamin Mkapa Foundation, 1,000 Wajibika vocational scholarships provided, and numerous internships and field attachments offered.

Through NBC Business Club, over 1 million women and youth received financial education, 20,000 MSMEs trained in entrepreneurship, and participants attended the China Canton Fair for business exposure and networking.

NBC Bank was also recognized by the EMEA Finance Banking Awards as the Best Sub-Sovereign Syndicated Loan in Africa 2023 for its role as Mandated Lead Arranger in a USD200 million credit facility for the Zanzibar government.
