GLASS manufacturer KIOO Limited has emerged the winner in Mineral Sector amongst the companies that use local raw materials in their production activities.

The awards were given at the weekend in Dar es Salaam by the Vice President, Dr. Philip Mpango in an event that involved various industrialists and investors in the country.

The awards, known as the President's Manufacturer of the Year Awards (PMAYA) have been coordinated by the Confederation of Industries (CTI) and are given every year to the industrialists who have done the best.

Speaking immediately after being handed the award, Jacob Msuya who is the Human Resources Manager of the company, said at the weekend that it is a great honor for them to see the company receiving such an award once again.

"We are very happy to see that we have emerged as Winner in Mineral Sector since  our Industry uses minerals available here in the country in production and in fact for all the years we have been using minerals found here in the country for our production," he said

He said that the award has given them the impetus to continue to produce many and quality products that will compete in the market in East Africa, East and Central Africa and the world in general.

"We congratulate the sixth phase government under President Dr.Samia Suluhu Hassan for creating a good business environment that enables industries to increase production and employment opportunities in the country," said Jacob.

In addition, Jacob said that it is not the first time that the factory has received the award because for all the years since the establishment of the awards, they have been receiving awards due to the investments made in the factory.

"Also, due to the huge  investment made by the leadership that considers the  welfare of its workers, KIOO Limited has also been receiving the best employer awards given by the Tanzania Union of Industrial and Commercial Workers (TUICO)," he said.
