THE government is set to begin renovation of Tanga Regional Referral Hospital, Bombo, starting with maternity and paediatric wards.
Construction is scheduled to commence before May this year to enhance maternal and child care services and improve the hospital’s infrastructure.
Health Minister Jenista Mhagama unveiled this here yesterday when speaking during her visit to the hospital where she urged the community to support the initiative.
"The government has prioritised health sector, investing over 8trn/- in a short period of time," she said.
She said the government was addressing infrastructure challenges at Bombo hospital with the planned renovations set to transform its appearance. The facility will offer integrated services, including surgical procedures and laboratory tests.
Dr Frank Shega, medical officer in charge of Bombo Hospital, requested financial support to renovate the hospital’s buildings and construct new units to expand healthcare services and increase service delivery capacity.
