TFF honours former president Tenga

THE Tanzania Football Federation has voted its former president Leodegar tenga as a new honourary president during the federation’s annual general meeting held in Tanga over the weekend.


It was incumbent president jamal malinzi who presented tenga’s name to the executive commitee mebers for voting and Tenga won unanimously.

Tenga played football at the highest level during his amateur career as he featured briefly for Yanga before joining Pan Africa for long spell u[p to mid 80’s.

He was one of the players who represented Tanznia national soccer team during the first and last African Nations Cup championship staged in Lagos in 1980.

Tenga played all three grou stage matches, against Nigeria, Egypt and Cote d’Ivoire.

Tenga reigned as president of TFF for two solid tenures before steppuing down to open teh gate for Malinzi in October 2013. Tenga used to be president of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA). He is now a member of Confederation of African Football, CAF executive commitee.

Tenga’s hassle-free leadership is well documnented and has been inspirational figure with wide public acknowledgeent.
