Dar picks 17 for regional swimming championships

Seventeen swimmers have been selected to form the national team that will represent Tanzania in the Cana Zone Three championships next month in Sudan.

The championships will be staged from November 14 to 18 in Khartoum.

Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA) secretary general Inviolata Itatiro said the team would travel to Khartoum on November 11.

Swimmers are Khaleed Ladha, Carter Helsby, Aravind Raghavindra, Mohameduwais Abdullatif, Peter Itatiro, Christian Shirima and Christopher Fitzpatrick.

There are also Delhem Rashid Mohamed, Aaron Akwenda, Collins Saliboko and Yuki Omori,

Female swimmers are Keyla Temba, Chiwoniso Zengeni, Linnet Laizer, Charlotte Sanford, Netania Lems and Mariam Bachmann.

Coaches are John Belela and Radhia Gereza.

Other countries set to compete in the Sudan championships Burundi, Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda and the hosts Sudan.

Tanzania won the title in 2016 when the event was held in Kigali, Rwanda.
