The tennis section outfit went in to bat first and scored 42 runs and the cricket section, in response exceeded the target for the loss of eight wickets.
Abishek Sankaranarayanan inspired the cricket section’s team to the victory, when he contributed 12 runs.
Brijesh Kakkad was voted as the tournament’s most promising performer.
The tournament brought together teams from all of the club’s sections, namely soccer, snooker, tennis, squash, golf and cricket under sponsorship from Alliance Insurance, Pepsi and Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL).
“Winning the award has motivated me to work hard in training,” Kakkad said.Several DGC officials including the club’s chairman, Walter Chipeta, and sponsors’ official Ananth Krishnan, attended the event.
DGC cricket section captain, Harsheel Shah, said his team’s victory has come about following better preparations the team had for the tournament.
Shah said his outfit’s junior players in both boys and girls’ categories are enthusiastic about learning the sport and he hopes the team will turn into a formidable side in future.
“The youngsters that are attending training here passion for the sport and very attentive during training,” he said.
