BoT stamps authority in Mwanza volleyball league

BANK of Tanzania (BoT) Club has extended its winning streak in the women category of this year’s Mwanza regional volleyball league after commanding two victories at the MTC venue at the weekend.

BoT Club, the league’s defending champions in the category, trounced rivals, Baptist Volleyball Club (BVC), 3-1 on Saturday and then recorded a 3-0 rout of MTC the following day.

BoT is the only side that has yet to concede a loss in the league and its solid displays in the games have substantiated its determination to realise successful title retention bid.

In the women category’s other game, MTC clobbered SAUT 3-0. The men’s category games played at the same day saw BVC rediscover its winning ways, beating Faru 3-2 in the first match and later cruised to a 3-1 win over Buchosa.

The league’s junior category, which has been organised for the first time, saw Butimba Prison Volleyball Club (BPVC) register a 3-1 win over MTC in the first game and latter then regrouped to secure a 3-0 win over BoT.

BVC ladies kept alive hopes of dethroning BoT when the former recorded a 3-1 win over SAUT on Sunday. In the day’s junior category games, BVC were forced to deploy all skills at their disposal to secure a 3-2 win over MTC, with the latter enduring a second consecutive loss in the event.

The men’s category game pitting SAUT against Faru, which had been slated for the same day, had to be postponed because of bad light as disclosed by Mwanza Regional Volleyball Association (Mwareva) official, Honorati Mayunga. He said the match will, thus, be played in the forthcoming weekend.
