The championships has been organised by the Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA).
The chairperson of the tournament’s organising committee, Hadija Shebe, mentioned the clubs as Bluefins, Champion Rise, Morogoro International School Piranhas, Mwanza Swimming, FK Blue and Zanzibar Wahoo.
Other clubs, according to Hadija, are ISM-Moshi, ISM-Arusha, FK Blue Marlins, Taliss-IST and the defending champions, Dar es Salaam Swim Club (DSC).
Hadija said preparations of the event, which has been sponsored by Asas, Samsung, DTB Bank, Snow Cream, Knight Support and one of domestic radio stations, are complete.
“The teams have already confirmed to take part in the event and we badly need support to develop swimmers,” Hadija said.
“They need to see everything go on smoothly to enjoy the sport. Without support it will be tough for us to manage.”
She disclosed that the swimmers will compete in categories based on their ages.
According to her, the event targets to promote the sport and give young swimmers experience on how to compete internationally.
She pointed out that the event provides a platform for participants to talk about swimming and raise awareness of the sport’s values.
She disclosed a gold medal will be given to the first winner, silver medal to the first runner-up and a bronze to the second runner-up.
According her, trophies will be awarded to the first team, first runner-up and the second runner-up.
