Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander Lazaro Mambosasa said that after completing the deployment of helicopter to oversee patrols during Christmas celebration held over the weekend it had enhanced security and controlled crime.
He said police established that the residents of the city celebrated Christmas peacefully adding that there was no reported criminal events so far compared to previous days.
“Up to date there is no reported criminal cases thus indicates that we are organised well to control to great extent,” he said.
According to commander Mambosasa, in previous days, criminals used festival celebrations to fulfil their missions adding that through new technique introduced by police, they were able either to intervene or control them.
He urged the public to celebrate Christmas and other celebrations peacefully and be aware of criminals.
“It is the majority expectations that criminals are not accepted and we are fighting to ensure that citizens and their properties are safe,” he said.
He added that police will continue with surveillance in all places urging people to collaborate with police in the fight against criminals.
Adding to that, the Director for Criminal Investigation (DCI) Robert Boaz said state of security was satisfactory adding that statistics show that for a period of January to November last year there were 68,204 criminal incidences compared to 61,794 reported in same period this year.
