Lions Clubs donate tree seedlings to Temeke schools

LIONS Club fraternity of Dar es Salaam has donated more than 5,000 tree seedlings to be planted in different schools in Temeke Municipality.

The seedlings were handed over to schools’ administration by Lions Club International 1st Vice President, Chancellor Bob Corlew, during a brief ceremony to welcome the VP who was in Dar es Salaam for a two-day visit.

Apart from the seedlings, the clubs also donated 20,000 books to be distributed to different schools in the municipality, a wheelchair, tricycle and sewing machines.

Clubs that came together to give the donation include Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Mzizima, Lions Club Pwani, Lions Club Dar es Salaam City, Lions Club Dar es Salaam (Host), Lions Club Dar es salaam Amani, Lions Club Dar es Salaam Azania and Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Central.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony, Corlew thanked all Lions Clubs that joined hands and gave the generous donation and urged them to continue with the giving spirit.

Corlew and his wife, Ruth Dianne, were in the country for two days and managed to visit several projects run by Lions Clubs including the CCBRT Hospital.
