Child labour: Sad story of Athuman Maulid

Eleven year-old Athuman Maulid has never seen the inside of a classroom.
At his tender age he toils from dawn to dusk, residents of Dumila area in Mvomero District, Morogoro Region, confided to me recently.
I could not manage an interview with Athuman but the lenses of my camera were enough to catch a glimpse of his plight.
The boy was carrying on his back a sack full of rice. It is harvest season in the area and the many people I talked to said it was common for young ones to help their parents or guardians with harvesting and drying of the crop.
