By Correspondent Michael Haonga

Infrastructure Development Minister Basil Mramba revealed yesterday that the rehabilitation of Sam Nujoma Road in Dar es Salaam will start at the end of this month.

The minister made the disclosure at a special stakeholders meeting at the envisaged Mlimani City Shoping Centre.

He said the road works would be undertaken by a Chinese firm, CHICO, which executed a similar project on the Singida-Shelui stretch , as well as the Ruvu Bridge in Dar es Salaam, Mramba said the construction had not kicked off due to an injunction filed by some people, to block demolition of buildings built on the road reserve. But he expressed optimism that the issue would be resolved, as stakeholders were present at the meeting.

’’All the stakeholders are here, and the major intention is to resolve the issue so that the important road project can start on schedule,’’ the minister remarked.

Among those present were the Tanzania Investment Centre Director-General Ole Naiko, Government officials as well as representatives from the University .

The shopping centre project will cost 120 million US dollars.
