The High Court in Arusha has set free two people who were facing murder charges of the former Ngorongoro Officer Commanding District, I. A. Kong’oa.

The accused persons, Ropene Oletira from Loliondo and Adan Nuru from Namanga, were set free after the director of public prosecution (DPP) entered a nolle prosequi.

State Attorney Hashim Ngole told Judge Razia Sheikh who was presiding over the case that after a thorough scrutiny of the case, the DPP had decided to drop the case against the two accused.

Judge Sheikh had no option but to set the duo free. They had been in custody for eight years.

It was alleged earlier that the two men, alongside an alleged accomplice, Issack Hilo, who died while in custody ,killed OCD Kong’oa on June 30, 1998.
