Tanzania and China have vowed to live up to their traditional friendship that came into existance since the 1960s.
The two friendly countries announced that the economic and social ties that were ignited by former presidents, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and Comrade Mao Tse Tung, both of whom are deceased, will remain intact.
The commitments were jointly made by Tanzanias Minister of State (Good Governance) Phillip Marmo and the Chines Deputy Minister for Supervision, Qu Quanxiang when they met at the State House in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
We have a historical relationship that we should let anybody to distablise. Current or future generations will be making grave mistakes by failing to maintain the relationship, remarked Marmo during the meeting with the nine-person Chinese delegation.
On his side, the Chines Deputy Minister, Quanxiang said like the majority of his compatriots believed back home, he regarded Tanzania as a brotherly country.
When I was young I used to hear good stories about Tanzania, how the Tanzanians were friends to the Chinesr, and so many other good stories. This visit, therefore, has confirmed what I used to hear, said Quanxiang.
Quanxiang said the purpose of his visit was to draw a beneficial relationship with Tanzania; a relationship in which both countries would continue to benefit economically and socially, he said.
Meanwhile, Tanzania will host the second International Conference on Corruption sets for Arusha, September this year.
This was announced during the same meeting when Marmo was briefing Quanxiang, on the countrys position on Good Governance.
