Abdallah Hamisi Ambua defeated other six aspirants to win East Africa Television`s (EATV) Planet Bongo Search in a final held in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday night.

Hamisi knelt down first to pray thanking Allah when producer of the programme Josh Murunga named him the winner in the event which was aired live on EATV.

``I am very happy that my son has won. The contest was very tough as all seven contestants had winning qualities,`` said Hamisi`s mother Rehema.

Hamisi will now host the programme which was earlier presented by Salama Jabir who is abroad for further studies.

``I am very happy that I will be working with EATV. In fact, I have been dreaming of this job for a long time,`` Hamisi said after the event, promising to advance the programme than the way it was before by introducing more new things to spice it.

He said he learnt a lot of things that he was not aware of before in the contest.

``Before I joined the race, I thought Salama was doing everything alone, something which I came to realise later that it was team work,`` he said.

His rivals did not complain about his victory.

Other finalists were Abdul Wahab, Happiness Essau, Angela Shangali, Hassan Jurej, Allan Lucky and Ezden Jumanne.
