Security guard in court over salary...

A security guard, Okey Asagwire (30), of Kiwalani Minazi Mirefu in Dar es Salaam, has appeared before the Ilala District Court Magistrate Janet Kinyage to answer charges of forgery.

Inspector of Police Denis Mujumba alleged that the accused committed the first offence on unknown date and place within Ilala District.

It was alleged that on the material day the accused with intent to defraud forged one salary slip of the month of September 2007 with name Okey Asagwire Mwangasa and account number 21140036914 purporting to show that the said salary slip was genuine and was issued by the City Garden Restaurant Limited.

In the second count it was alleged that on the material day the accused with intent to defraud did forge another salary slip of the month of October 2007 with the same name and account number 21140036914 purporting to show that the said salary slip was genuine and was issued by the restaurant.

In the third count it was alleged that on 6 September, this year, at City Garden Restaurant along Garden Avenue within Ilala District the accused knowingly and fraudulently did utter two salary slips of the months of September and October 2007 to a human resource officer of the said restaurant, Fatuma Jamal.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded in custody for lack of surety. The case comes up for another mention on September 24, this year.

Meanwhile, Anthony Masanja (27), a resident of Kimara Succa appeared in the same court before Principal District Magistrate Afumwisye Kibona charged with obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duty.

Inspector of Police Hamis Mhyella alleged that the accused committed the offence on September 8, this year at Magomeni Mapipa in Kinondoni District.

It was alleged that on the material day being a passenger of the car No. T 860 ALW make Toyota Hiace without a lawful order, did obstruct a police officer with force No. E 5247 PC Eliad to take the driver of the said car to the police station after he had committed a road traffic offence.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charge and he paid a fine of 10,000/-.
