The First Division Football League which was initially scheduled to kick off on September 6 has been postponed to September 20.

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Information Officer, Florian Kaijage, said the tourney was postponed by league committee which met last Wednesday.

He said the committee postponed the league because some of the preparations were yet to be completed.

Kaijage said the deadline for registration would be today.

``We will announce players who have qualified to feature in the league on September 3,`` he said.

Kaijage said that TFF would meet with competing clubs on September 7 to discuss, among other things, proper ways of coordinating the league.

The league will have 18 teams divided into three groups with each comprising six clubs.

The groups will be as follows: Group A; Majimaji (Ruvuma), Ashanti United (Dar es Salaam), Ruvu Shooting (Pwani), Rhino (Morogoro), Kijiweni (Mbeya) and Polisi (Iringa)

Group B; Manyema Rangers, Pan African, Mbagala Market (all of Dar es Salaam), Coastal Union, Segera FC (Tanga) and Korosho FC (Mtwara).

Group C; Mwanza United (Mwanza), Balimi FC (Kagera), Polisi FC (Tabora), Saragire FC (Mara), Arusha FC (Arusha) and Nyerere (Kilimanjaro).
