Taifa Stars play against Black Stars of Ghana in a friendly match at the newly-built 60,000-seater ultra-modern stadium in Dar es Salaam today.
Local fans will have to witness another entertaining match when the two meet again after seven years.
The teams last met on October 29, 2000. It took Tanzania eight years to gain ample revenge over Ghana whom they beat 3-2 for the first time during the Four Nation Castle Lager Cup third place play-off.
Tanzania goals were scored by Salvatory Edward, Edibily Lunyamila and Mwanamtwa Kihwelu while Nana Frimpong and Issah Abdul Rahman scored for the five time African champions (Ghana).
The West African side will be looking for revenge while the hosts will be out to post their second win.
Taifa Stars coach Marcio Maximo said earlier in the week that he had prepared his team well to outgun the visitors.
Ghana`s Serbian Rajevac Milovan, who assumed duty last Saturday, will have a heated baptism as most of the key players in his team are missing in the fixture due to one reason or the other.
He said Chelsea`s Michael Essien is nursing injury and current skipper John Mensah has been excused to stay out to consolidate his position in his new French club after switching from Rennes to the champions Lyon in the off season.
Sulley Muntari`s move from Portsmouth in England to Italian champions Inter Milan keeps him away from the friendly, same as John Paintstl, who moved from West Ham United to Fulham and Junior Agogo and Asamoah Gyan who moved from Nottingham Forest to Zamalek and Udinese in Italy to Rennes in France respectively.
The Serbian will, however, have the services of some talented players who arrived in the city yesterday.
Some of the players who came with the team are; Goalkeepers: William Amamoo (Estasaalat, Egypt) and Richard Kingston (Unattached).
Defenders: Samuel Inkoom (Asante Kotoko, Ghana), Godfred Yeboah (Asante Kotoko, Ghana), Jonathan Quartey (Kaiser Chiefs, South Africa), Issah Ahmed Gabriel (Randers, Denmark), John Boye (Heart of Lions, Ghana).
Midfielders: King Osei Gyan (Brusells, Anderlecht), Laryea Kingston (Hearts, Scotland), Agyemang Badu (Berekum Arsenal, Ghana), Bernard Kumordzi (Anthens, Panionions), Jordan Opoku (Tunis, Asante Kotoko), Edmund Owusu Ansah (Heart of Lions, Ghana), Moussa Narry (Auxerre, France).
Attackers: Eric Bekoe (Asante Kotoko, Ghana), Francis
Coffie (Asante Kotoko, Ghana).
