Stage set for ITF junior tourney

The East African Junior Lawn Tennis Championship takes off at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) today.
The event which is sanctioned by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) is for players who are under 13.
Players from Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Sudan are already in the country to face Tanzanians.
The Tanzania Lawn Tennis Association (TLTA) Chairman, Dennis Makoyi, said the local players had trained well to win the event.
DGC tennis captain Inger Njau named players who would represent her club in the tourney as Ibrahim Kessy, John Njau, Mohamed Abdallah, Hafidhi Hashim, Selemani Mwanapala, Shaaban Ibrahim Tumaini Martini, Lydia Lucas, Joyce Joel and Godluck Shalemu.
She said all participants had been training at the club since last Friday.
