At least 121 women in Temeke municipality appeared in the breast cancer screening campaign which took place at Temeke Hospital over the week end.
Speaking soon after the campaign the hospital Chief Physician, Dr Suleiman Mutani, said out of 121 women 32 were found with breast cancer.
He said that in the mammography test conducted many of the women were found with symptoms of cancer, adding that those found with it will be operated.
``For those who were found with symptoms, we will make follow ups on their conditions in every six months or even every year to check whether the symptoms have become manifest,`` he said.
He also called upon all women to test in order to be knowledgeable of their health, especially with the breast, adding that the disease was more prone to women than to men.
He said the campaign was intended to undertake screening exercise for adult women only, but unexpectedly more youths turned at the screening exercise.
He however explained that youths are more vulnerable to what is called `contradictory cancer` than women adults.
For example, he explained that girls of the age ranging between 13 and 35 are the ones most likely to suffer from cancer.
``This age is very risky. This goes contrary to the existing myth that cancer is only for adults…but the truth is that every woman can suffer from it at any age,`` he said.
``During the mamogram we were expecting more adults, whom we believed are the ones in risk of the disease, but more youths turned up than we had expected,`` he said.
The Facilitator of the Tanzania Breast Cancer Foundation, Annette la Touché commenting said that, mammography tests were perfect for cancer test because they provided accurate results.
She said that women should be free and should not be afraid of testing their breast whenever opportunities were on their side.
