Tabata resident faces false pretence charges

A resident of Tabata Segerea in Dar es Salaam Barikieli Mboya (37) appeared before the Ilala District Court charged with obtaining money by false pretence.

Assistant Inspector of Police Hamis Mteylla told the court that on January 2, this year the accused committed the offence at Kitunda Relini within Ilala District.

It was alleged that on the material day, the accused did obtain 6.9m/- in cash from Mahtima Gandhi by falsely pretending that he would sell him a motor vehicle with Registration number T 276 ASY make Center Dyna, a fact he knew to be untrue.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded in custody for lack of surety. The case comes up for another mention on July 28 this year.

Meanwhile, Stanton James (34) a driver who resides at Yombo Dovya in Dar es Salaam appeared in the same court before resident magistrate Agnes Mchome charged with two counts of robbery with violence.

Inspector of Police Daniel Buma told the court that on July 8, this year at Vingunguti Kwa Sinda, the accused with others who were not in court did commit the offence.

It was alleged that on the material day, the accused did steal one mobile handset make Nokia worth 120,000/- and a 300,000/- golden chain, property of one Fatuma Abdallah.

It was further alleged that immediately before and after the theft, the defendant did use actual violence on Fatuma by robbing her in order to obtain the said property.

It was also claimed that on the same date and place, the accused did steal a mobile phone make Motorola worth 120,000/- and 300,000/- golden chain, property of Salama Ramadhan.

It was further alleged that immediately before and after the stealing, he did use actual violence on Salama by robbing her in order to obtain the said property.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody for lack of sureties. The case comes up for mention on July 28 this year.
