George John appointed ECAVCO boss

The Tanzania Volleyball Association (Tava) assistant secretary-general, George John, has been appointed the East and Central Africa Volleyball Confederation (ECAVCO) Deputy Organising Secretary.

According to the statement issued by ECAVCO yesterday, John would be handling all matters regarding tournaments organised by the body.

``As the ECAVCO deputy secretary you will be answerable to the executive committee of the body,`` the letter signed by ECAVCO Secretary General Jacob Owiti read.

John said he had accepted the offer although he said that it was a tough job which needed a lot of devotion.

He said his duties commenced effectively from June 1.

The structure of the ECAVCO leadership includes the chairman who is Tom Omondole from Uganda, Vice Chairman Augustine Agapa (Tanzania), secretary general (Jacob Owiti) and treasurer Keneth Tonui (Kenya).
