Kagame Cup faces setback

CID of Djibouti and Denden (Eritrea) have pulled out of the East and Central Africa Club Championship (Kagame Cup, which will start on Saturday at the National Stadium,Dar es Salaam.
The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Secretary-General, Frederick Mwakalebela, said yesterday that the clubs withdrew from the regional tourney because of financial constraints.
He said the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) would release new fixtures tomorrow after the withdrawal of the teams.
``The groups will still remain three despite their withdrawal,`` Mwakalebela said, adding that El Mereikh of Sudan were the first to pullout.
Mwakalebela said Rayon of Rwanda would arrive in the country today while Awasa of Ethiopia and Zanzibar\'s Miembeni would come tomorrow.
Ten teams now remain in the regional tourney.
Group `A` has Simba (Tanzania), Tusker (Kenya), Vital \'O (Burundi) and Benadir (Somalia) while URA (Uganda) and Rayon (Rwanda) are in Group `B`.
Group `C` has defending champions APR (Rwanda), Yanga (Tanzania), Awassa (Ethiopia) and Miembeni (Zanzibar).
The championship is sponsored by Rwanda President Paul Kagame and Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL).
