Simba are chasing Express FC goalkeeper Godfrey Wakabu who is part of the team touring the country. Express team manager Mohamoud Kateregga said that despite their 1-0 loss to Simba on Saturday the club`s officials approached him with an attractive offer for the player.

``I jokingly told them to $1m but they seriously talked of a good offer.

I referred them back to the secretary (Kavuma Kabenge) and promised to talk to him,`` Kateregga was yesterday quoted as saying.

``If they (Simba) can give us the money we want and the money can help us acquire more Wakabus, I don`t care.

We are looking at infrastrature development for the young players and building an ultimate club for the future,`` Kabenge said.

The Red Eagles largely junior side that only has Peter Sibo, Imam Kinene, Wakabu, Ivan Bwire, Francis Jemba and Charles Katamba and new signing Abdu Mutaasa were yesterday expected to play their second match against Yanga at the National Stadium.

Meanwhile, a last minute friendly gave Uganda’s URA a big blow when lethal defender Sam Mubiru got injured and has tentatively been written off the team.

This was during a friendly match at the weekend with the national university team that was also preparing for the Africa University games that start today in Kampala.

Coach Moses Basena and chairman David Serebe who were visibly upset, called off the match at Nakawa after 21 minutes of play to avoid the worst case scenario of sustaining more injuries.
Dan Wagaluka and Musa Doka had earlier received hard knocks.

A collision with Jetah Waibi of the university team left Mubiru`s right leg with a torn muscle and was rushed to hospital for stitching.

``We don`t know if he will be okay and we are badly affected. But there is always an alternative,`` said Basena who said he will soon name his final squad for the Cecafa Club Championship.
