Yanga, Express meet in build up match

Mainland premier league champions Yanga play Express of Uganda in a buildup match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam today.

Yanga will use the match to prepare for the East and Central Africa Championship, Kagame Cup, which will start in Dar es Salaam next weekend.

Lucas Kisasa, Yanga Secretary-General said yesterday that they would use the game to test their newcomers who were recruited to play for the club in the next league season and international tournaments.

Yanga will also represent the mainland in the African Champions League.

``Since this will be our first match, we want to show our fans that we have recruited the best players by beating Express,`` he said.

On his side, Yanga coach Serbian Dusan Condik said he had prepared his squad well for the match and said was convinced with the performance of the team.

``We have been well prepared to win Kagame Cup and defend our Vodacom Premier League because the players we have this time are quite good,`` he said.

New players who are expected to feature for the Jangwani Club are George Owino, Boniface Ambani, Juma Kaseja, Kigi Makasi and Nurdin Bakari.

Yanga`s archrivals Simba defeated Express 1-0 in the first friendly match played on the same ground on Saturday.

Yanga who are in Group B with APR of Rwanda, Awasa City of Ethiopia and Miembeni of Zanzibar will start play with APR in the Kagame Cup before playing Miembeni in the next game.

They will face Awasa in the last group stage match.

Simba are in Group `A` with Tusker of Kenya, Vital`O` of Burundi and Benadir Telecom of Somalia. Group C has URA (Uganda), Rayon (Rwanda), Denden (Eritrea) and CDI (Djibouti).
