TFF sad with clubs recruitment

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has been disappointed with poor registration of most of the Premier League clubs.

TFF President Leodegar Tenga said recently that most of registration forms which they had received from clubs were dominated by regular faces who had few years to be out of the game.

``I do not understand why our clubs like recruiting players who are almost going out of the game and yet we have young- talented players, who if they sign, can be in the game for long,`` Tenga said.

He said Tanzania had a desert of talented players who could do wonders if registered to feature in the Vodacom-sponsored league.

Tenga advised the clubs to stop going for big names when doing their registration as a good soccer nation was always built by young Turks.

``Everybody would like to see new faces in the next league. We are tired of the regular faces that have nothing new to showcase anymore.

Good recruitment is the one which introduces new faces,`` he stressed.

He said if the clubs would maintain the same system, Tanzania would not have a good national team in future.

Tenga said Taifa Stars` good performance in the 2010 World Cup-cum-Nations Cup qualifiers was motivated by the inclusion of young players in the team trained by Marcio Maximo.

The president also hailed the just ended Copa Coca-Cola for good performance, saying the under-17 championship had revealed many talented young players.

``I was very impressed with Copa Coca-Cola because of the high discipline which was shown by the competing teams,`` he said.

He appealed to other companies and individuals to borrow a leaf from the soft drinking company by sponsoring such youth soccer tournaments frequently in order to spur local football standard.

Ruvuma emerged the new champions in the event which climaxed last Saturday at Dar es Salaam`s National Stadium.
