Tanzania has failed to send a team in the Second Edition of the World Swimming Youth Championship to be held on July 8 in Mexico.

The Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA) Secretary-General, Noel Kiunsi, said yesterday that they failed to send the team because of financial constraints.

He said the body needed 38m/- for training the team, accommodation, allowances and return tickets.

Kiunsi named players who were training for the tourney as Ishita Hitendra, Iksheeta Pramesh, Dushyant Jayprakash, Mariam Foum, Catherine Decker, Biko Molteni, Jacob Mgwasa, Ally Hamisi, Shailant Kilahania, Tereza Mwanukuzi and Jacob Yohana.

He said the same athletes would train to prepare for the Zone IV Championship to be held in South Africa next year.

Meanwhile, Yellow Pages will sponsor the preparation of the two swimmers who will compete in the Olympic Games in August in Beijing, China.

Kiunsi said the firm would sponsor their training camp to be held in Kenya. They are Magdalena Moshi and Khalid Rusha.

The two will leave for Kenya on July 10 and will return on July 30.
