Kisarawe district stakes out industrial area for investors

Government authorities in Kisarawe Ward, Kisarawe District, Coast Region, are devising plans to locate an industrial area for investors after it had recieved a number of applications from interested parties within and outside the country.
The ward`s Executive Officer, Omari Sukuzi, told PST on Friday that they had embarked on the move by setting aside 100 hectares for the purpose at Mpuyani area in the village for construction of a cement factory following request from an investor.
``My office and the village government have been working hand in hand to locate a suitable area for the setting up of factories and other industrial activities,`` he said.
Elaborating, he said as the specific investment had immense significance to the area, about 14 residents had pledged to vacate the earmarked place in favour of the investor if their properties, including farms and houses, would be compensated.
``The expectations of having such a significant project in their midst which could provide them with ample economic opportunities, have made them to readily provide the investor with the needed area,`` he said, adding that the area was big enough to accommodate all facilities and services needed for the project such as residential quarters for its workers.
Sukuzi also said that with the availability of power from the national greed, the area had the advantage of being situated along the Dar es Salaam-Kisarawe road which traversed various fertile villages in the district.
